Editorials > Disney Believes in Male Synchronized Swimmers

Will they ever stop making movies based on ridiculous or in this case imaginary sports? "Synchronicity," is basically Blades of Glory except instead of male figure skaters in outrageous outfits performing awkward dance routines on ice, you get male synchronized swimmers in outrageous outfits performing awkward dance routines in a pool. Disney and Scott Rudin seem to think that this will bring in a younger male demographic that in turn will bring in the big bucks. Even if you overlook it's similarity to other sports comedies, this is anything but a new concept. SNL did a skit in 1984 where Martin Short and Harry Shearer played brothers preparing to compete in the Olympics as male synchronized swimmers.
