Former Will & Grace star Debra Messing is headed for Chicago to film Humboldt Park, an ensemble dramedy about "three siblings' return to their parents' home for the holidays in Humboldt Park on Chicago's northwest side" (Variety). Messing will play the wife of John Leguizamo's character.

The film also features Freddy Rodriguez, Alfred Molina, Jay Hernandez, Mercedes Ruehl, Luis Guzman, Melonie Diaz and Vanessa Ferlito. Molina and Ruehl will play the bodega-owning parents, while Ferlina, Rodriguez, and Leguizamo will play their children. Hernandez will play a friend of the family while Diaz will play a former lover of the Freddy Rodriguez character as well as his sister's best friend. Guzman's role is unclear. I'm betting on "crazy uncle."

Alfredo De Villa (Washington Heights) is directing from a screenplay by Rick Najera, Ted Perkins, and Alison Swan. Production begins shooting next week.
