News > De Palma Talks Up Untouchables Prequel

Written by David Morgan

Brian De Palma has been talking about making a prequel to his own semi-classic The Untouchables for some time now. Recently he told MTV that to keep the tone consistent between the two films which will be made more than twenty years apart he will be utilizing both Ennio Morricone's ever-brilliant score as well as the same locations in Chicago.

As far as details on the content of the film, it will follow "Jimmy Malone’s relationship with Capone during Capone’s rise."

Capone was going to be played by Nicolas Cage, but the actor dropped out in May for unknown reasons. No new Capone has been cast, but Gerard Butler will be playing what was once Sean Connery's role of Jimmy Malone.

Someone must have found a way to clone Gerard Butler, I swear he's in every movie coming out in the next 5 years. Hopefully this won't suck, just have Malone kick Capone into a giant pit in the middle of a street while yelling "This is Chicago!!!" That would be sweet....is it still opposite day? My head hurts.
