The April 11 release from Fox Searchlight Pictures has been renamed. Formerly The Night Watchman, it now goes by Street Kings.
Based on a James Ellroy (L.A. Confidential) story and directed by David Ayer (Training Day, Harsh Times), the ensemble drama sees Keanu Reeves playing Tom Ludlow, a veteran LAPD Vice Detective on a quest to discover the killers of his former partner.
A very solid cast is in place to back up Keanu's 'acting style', including Forest Whitaker, Hugh Laurie(!!), Terry Crews, Chris Evans, Common, Cedric the Entertainer, Amaury Nolasco, Jay Mohr, John Corbett, and The Game.
Script credits are listed as James Ellroy, Kurt Wimmer (Equilibrium), and first-timer Jamie Moss. It sounds like the plot will follow the downward spiral style of a slowly revealed corruption that David Ayer has mastered and the action happens in Ayer's frequent setting of choice, the underbelly of Los Angeles.
