News > Comedy Legend Harvey Korman, 81

Harvey Korman, the Emmy-winning comedic actor of screens small and large, passed away Thursday at the age of 81. The official cause of death was "complications related to the rupture of an abdominal aortic aneurysm he experienced four months ago."

After getting started in small roles on television, Korman became a prominent sketch comedian, especially in collaborations with Carol Burnett, Tim Conway, and Vicki Lawrence on "The Carol Burnett Show." His film work was considerably less extensive, though he appeared in Blake Edwards' "Trail of the Pink Panther" and "Curse of the Pink Panther", as well as three of Mel Brooks' slapstick spoofs. His most identifiable film role was that of the villainously deadpan Hedley Lamarr in Brooks' western comedy "Blazing Saddles." He continued to work in television for most of the remainder of his life on shows such as "Roseanne," "The Love Boat," and "Mama's Family." Korman was a true talent, whose knack for delivery was the stuff most comedians would kill for. Though surely, that's not the case here. R.I.P.
