News > Coen Brothers Get "Serious"

The Coen Brothers are working on a serious black comedy, titled A Serious Man.

The story, set in 1967, follows one Larry Gopnik, a professor in the midwest whose wife leaves him and socially awkward brother won't move out of the house.

The Coen brothers, according to Variety, have tapped two relative unknowns for the roles of Larry (Michael Stulbarg, Tony-nominated actor with little film experience) and his brother (Richard Kind, of the ABC sitcom Spin City.).

Joel and Ethan Coen wrote the screenplay for A Serious Man and will share directing and producing duties.
