Thomas Haden Church has signed on to play opposite Kate Hudson in "Big Eyes," a true-story drama about popular illustrator Margaret Keane and her husband, Walter, who exploited her for fame and fortune. According to Variety, Walter Keane became "a celebrity in the 1950s and '60s because of a series of paintings of big-eyed children that became a mass-market phenomenon." The couple eventually divorced and a bitter struggle that went all the way to federal court ensued over who had actually painted her works.
Scott Alexander and Larry Karaszewski (both of "1408" and "Man on the Moon") will direct from their own script.
