News > Christopher Eccleston Joins "Amelia"

Fans of "Dr. Who" and "Heroes" aren't necessarily the same sort of people interested in biographical period pieces about famous female aviators, but for those fourteen people that fit both categories, your dream has come true. British actor Christopher Eccleston ("28 Days Later", "G.I. Joe") has joined the cast of Mira Nair's "Amelia," as Amelia Earhart's ill-fated navigator Fred Noonan.

He joins a cast that includes Hilary Swank as Earhart, Richard Gere as her husband George Putnam, Virginia Madsen as Putnam's ex-wife, and Ewan McGregor as Earhart's lover Gene Vidal. Noonan was flying with Earhart on the day both disappeared in 1937.
