There was a sentence in the Boston Globe the other day that was treated fairly inconsequentially by the writer, but has suddenly received a lot of attention on the internet (at least amongst film geeks like ourselves). Here it is:
[Charlize Theron] will also produce and star in a remake of Sympathy for Lady Vengeance, the final installment of a mondo-violent trilogy by Korean director Park Chan-wook.
I shamefully have not seen the film, so I'm going to forgo making some snide comment about how it'll never be as good as the original. So why don't you all do it for me? Is it at least heartening that a reputable actress is taking the part or do you look at this as just another ill-conceived Hollywood remake devoid of redeeming qualities?
