According to an article by the AP, Jackie Chan recently told us a few things that we already knew in a blog post on his website. Firstly that he only did the Rush Hour films to test the waters of American cinema and for the outlandish amount of money he was paid for the sequels, and that he personally didn't think any of the films were very good in terms of action or comedy. He's an honest fellow. Have to give him that.
But even more recently Chan said:
"The movie I just shot with Jet Li, The Forbidden Kingdom, actually isn't that great," Chan was quoted as saying by the Web site of China's official Xinhua News Agency. "The Forbidden Kingdom is a movie made for Americans," the report quoted Chan as saying. "Chinese viewers may not like it. If I say it's a good movie now, then many people will be filled with overly high expectations and be disappointed when they see the movie."
I don't think he's necessarily being anti-American but it does sound a little like he's saying we have bad taste.
