An impressive cast has been announced for DreamWorks Animation and Paramount Pictures' Monsters vs Aliens, next year's 3-D cartoon that "reinvents the classic ‘50s monster movie into an irreverent modern day action comedy."

The Cast:

• Reese Witherspoon as Susan Murphy a.k.a. Ginormica, the 49', 11" Woman.
• Hugh Laurie as Dr. Cockroach, PhD, a scientist who swapped his head with a cockroach's.
• Will Arnett as The Missing Link, a half ape/half fish creature.
• Seth Rogen as B.O.B., a one-eyed, blue gelatinous blob.
• Rainn Wilson as Gallaxhar.
• Stephen Colbert as The President of the United States!
• Kiefer Sutherland as General W.R. Monger.
• and Paul Rudd as Susan's boyfriend, Derek.

That is a group of very funny people, but that hasn't been enough to save 3-D animated films from suckage in the past. (I'm looking at you, Shrek 3.)

Directed by Rob Letterman (Shark Tale) and Conrad Vernon (Shrek 2) with no writer credited, the film will be the debut of DreamWorks' Ultimate 3-D process that animates the film in 3-D from start to finish.

Monsters vs Aliens is slated for a March 27, 2009 release.
