News > Buscemi, Liotta, Smart Sign on for "Youth in Revolt"

Steve Buscemi, Ray Liotta, Jean Smart, and M. Emmet Walsh have joined "Youth in Revolt," a comedy starring Michael Cera based on the novel of the same name by C.D. Payne. According to Variety, the screenplay was written by the director Miguel Arteta ("The Good Girl"), Gustin Nash ("Charlie Bartlett"), and Michael Cera himself. Cera will play teenager Nick Twisp, who meets the girl of his dreams on a family vacation and destroys the trip trying to be with her. Buscemi is confirmed to play Twisp's father, while the other roles are still unknown. In addition, I just read over at THR that Liotta will be playing a cop who is dumped badly during his affair with Twisp's mother (Smart), leading him to accuse her son Nick of arson.

What a cast. There's not a weak link in the bunch, and you know what Roger Ebert says about films with M. Emmet Walsh, "No film starring either M. Emmet Walsh or Harry Dean Stanton can be altogether bad*."

*Except for "Wild Wild West."
