Variety is reporting that Jason Bateman has joined the cast of Kevin Macdonald's (the Last King of Scotland director, not the Kid in the Hall) feature film remake of the British miniseries State of Play (originally directed by David Yates).
Drama revolves around a newspaper's investigation of the murder of a girlfriend of a fast-rising congressman, played by Norton. Pitt plays the former campaign manager of the pol who spearheads the paper's investigation, and Bateman will play one of the key reporters chasing the story.
Just thinking of their past roles and their appearances, doesn't it seem more likely that Pitt would be the charismatic young congressman while Norton is the hardworking former campaign manager? They're certainly both versatile enough to play this either way. Bateman may not be as versatile, but that one character he plays is brilliant.
