Christina Applegate will play the love interest of Rainn Wilson in The Rocker, a new comedy directed by British filmmaker Peter Cattaneo (The Full Monty). Wilson plays drummer Robert "Fish" Fishman, who finds little success in music until he joins his nephew's high school band, A.D.D. According to MTV, Applegate will play the mother of A.D.D.'s guitarist.

Applegate describes her role as "on the sidelines," and says that despite her vocal talents, she will not be performing in the film. "There are a lot of big performance scenes with the 80s rock band,” she added. “I haven’t even seen those, so I look forward to that."
