Eric Bana, Jason Schwartzman, and Jonah Hill have joined the cast of Judd Apatow's "Funny People," along with the already-cast Adam Sandler, Leslie Mann, and Seth Rogen. And I'm just going to go ahead and guess that Paul Rudd, Jay Baruchel, and two or three other castmembers of "Freaks and Geeks" will show up, too.
According to Variety, the film will be about "the world of standup comedy" and will focus "on a comedian who has a near-death experience." Apatow is writing and directing the film himself, with the production being shared between his Apatow Prods. and Adam Sandler's Happy Madison company. Clayton Townsend and Barry Mendel will also serve as producers.
Eric Bana may seem like a surprise choice until you realize that he got his start as a stand up/sketch comedian in his home country of Australia before segueing (semi-successfully) into Hollywood dramatic roles.
