Superherohype.com has posted a set report from a blogger named 'iDima", who claims to work next door to the prop house for the next Batman movie. They (he/she, what kind of name is iDima?) write:
My company moved into this new office building this past December. It's an industrial type place with lots of space. One floor. Warehouse type deal. Well the 3 similar offices next door were completely empty. Until a month or two ago that is.
You'll remember that Batman begins was filmed on location in Chicago. Because I live/work in Chicago I recognized most of the places the batmobile drove through… even through the extra CGI.
The company that moved in next door… does the props for the new Batman movie that's currently being filmed here in Chicago…
…And what's cooler is that they have like 10 of these in the warehouse. TEN BATMOBILES!!!
I guess they're going to destroy some of them or something. Their building sets and props all day. I can hear them through the walls of my office.
Not the most exciting news, but the idea of ten Batmobiles does get me a little sweaty. The modern day action-trilogy is almost always cast in the mold of Star Wars series; i.e. the first movie is our introduction to the world and the origin of the main character; the second film tears down established security, forcing the character through hardship and loss to strengthen him for whatever epic battle is going to take place in the third and final film, when the all characters come back beefed up and ready to break some heads.
So does the creation of ten Batmobiles point towards the second film more along the lines of The Empire Strikes Back? Are those ten Batmobiles going to wreckage on a sound stage floor by the end of filming? Is The Dark Knight going to be all about the Joker and Two-Face just kicking the shit out of Bruce Wayne for two hours, leaving him broken and bent, and in need of a little assistance? Assistance in the form of a fleshy-tight wearing Boy Wonder? I don't know, sounds probable.
