Editorials > Actor Heath Ledger Has Died

According to several sources, including The New York Times and TMZ.com, Academy Award-nominated actor Heath Ledger has died. Gossip sites are claiming a link to drugs, but no concrete evidence about a cause of death has emerged. Ledger starred in the upcoming Batman film The Dark Knight and was in the midst of filming Terry Gilliam's The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus.

He's survived by his daughter.

That's sad. Now I'm scared that hot topic will begin to sell the shit out of shirts with the Joker on it, and this will all be to similar to the crow...
Anyhow, truly sad as the guy definitely had some talent. I was definitely looking forward to the dark knight, but this kinda puts a somber mood on the whole thing.

did alot of great work, i wasw very shocked to learn this, im hoping to see more scenes of him in the batman begins film. they will more then likely have a tribute upon release day.

just wow..but at least he didn't hit the dreaded 27 club.

It's a damn shame. He was just hitting his stride. I'm Not There, Brokeback, The Dark Knight, Dr Parnassus. Even more so than other talented actors who have died young (River Phoenix and James Dean come to mind), Ledger was really on the verge of becoming a certifiably "great" actor with an already fantastic ability to choose roles.

Although i peronally mourne the loss of a great actor, my condolences go to his daughter, who will now have to grow up without ever getting a chance to really come to know her daddy.
