I outright refuse to say anything along the lines of "getting into the Christmas 'Spirit,'" but Frank Miller's directorial debut, "The Spirit," will be released on December 25th, three weeks earlier than it was originally going to hit theaters (January 16th). The film is based on a comicstrip by the legendary Will Eisner, and will star Samuel L. Jackson, Scarlett Johansson, Eva Mendes, and Gabriel Macht. Macht will play a rookie cop who returns from the dead to stop a killer.
Variety reports that Tom Ortenberg of Lionsgate made the decision to move the film to a more prime spot like Christmas after the film was presented at the New York Comic-Con, presumably to a very appreciative crowd. I don't know about you, but I'm glad to hear that there is some good buzz about this movie; it's sounding and looking more promising all the time.
