News > "Tetro" Shut Down?

The Argentinean actors union is claiming that production has halted on Francis Ford Coppola's "Tetro," on account of the fact that their actors have been working without contracts on the American director's production. The odd bit of news is that Coppola's people deny that this is true at all.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Kathleen Talbert, Coppola's spokesperson, says that production is proceeding as planned. "There are no holds on shooting, no problem with actors. In fact, the majority of the Argentine actors have already wrapped the shooting." The other side, spoken for by Daniel Valenzuela of the AAA (Argentina Actors Association), said  "At the moment, they are not filming because the contracts have [not] arrived to the union. On Tuesday, the union gave them 48 hours to present the documents and they didn't do that, so we took this action."

Delays on the shoot have reportedly been caused by script changes and communication breakdowns between the multinational cast and crew. The film stars Vincent Gallo in the title role as well as Maribel Verdu, Alden Ehrenreich, Rodrigo de la Serna, Leticia Bredice, and Carmen Maura. The film concerns an artistic family in modern-day Argentina.

We'll let you know if/when we learn the truth about this situation.
