News > "Nailed" Hits Another Snag

David O. Russell's "Nailed" has found itself in another nasty situation. No, I'm afraid it's much worse than replacing James Caan with James Brolin. Thursday morning, financial difficulties for the production forced the International Alliance of Theatrical & Stage Employees (IATSE) to order the below-the-line crew not to show up for work (below-the-line referring to the technical crew as opposed to those "creative" types).

Capitol Films, the company financing the political comedy, had a similar struggle last week with SAG, when it seemed that Capitol did not have sufficient funds to adequately pay the talent. Stars Jessica Biel and Jake Gyllenhaal did not work last Friday, causing a one-day shut down.

Hopefully they'll get all of this business sorted out soon, because it sounds like a promising film with a good cast, including James Brolin, Catherine Keener, James Marsden, Tracy Morgan and many more. Biel plays a woman who goes to Washington to lead "a crusade for better health care after a nail is accidentally shot into her head" (Variety). Russell wrote the screenplay with Kristin Gore ("Futurama," Al Gore's daughter).
