News > World of Warcraft Movie News!

Blizzcon is going on this week (yes I'm also surprised that there's a conference fully dedicated to Blizzard products) and they dropped the first crumbs of serious news on the
World of Warcraft movie.
Warcraft: The Movie (one of the more originally named sites on the net) has the whole thing covered, but I'll just hit the big points. Legendary Pictures (a name I've come to trust for high quality big budget pictures) will produce the 100 million dollar film. The film is looking to be released in 2009 and will be PG-13.
From a story perspective it's going to be set one year prior to the World of Warcraft storyline and is going to be 'a war movie' from the Alliance Perspective. How CGI is going to be crammed on this thing isn't known yet. Also, if you go to the above link, you can see the first concept art of the Teldrassil, which seems to be a giant fuzzy picture of Ferngully. But what the hell do I know.
So this is it, World of Warcraft dam has officially been broken, and from now on there shall be a veritable flood of information, rumor, and lies drowning our darling internet. The disappeared WOW junkies of the world (Mighty Joe I'm talking to you) will reappear, only to backbite and bitch about the film's state of affairs. Honestly, if you thought the geek backlash of Serenity was intensely annoying, you ain't seen nothing yet. There are 9 million WOW players currently, and 85 percent of them are fervently invested in the fake world. Anything and everything that happens will be intensely pored over, scrutinized to a point I don't believe we've seen yet in the online community.
It's going to get nasty from here on out, and I'm a little excited.
