Lauren St. John's children's story The White Giraffe will be adapted for the screen by Ann Peacock of Chronicles of Narnia fame. The film will be directed by Hungarian director Gabor Csupo, who thus far is perhaps best known for directing Bridge to Terabithia and creating Rugrats and Aaah!!! Real Monsters. He's also bringing with him to the project child star AnnaSophia Robb. Here's the description provided by Variety:
Giraffe revolves around a young British orphan who is sent to live with her grandfather on a South African wild preserve. Her life is changed forever when she sets out to discover the truth about a fabled and mysterious white giraffe.
Like Narnia meets Pan's Labyrinth. I'm sure that's exactly how the movie was pitched to the studio. I loved Pan's Labyrinth, but this new film sounds like a yawner.
