The Hollywood Reporter announces that Ehren Kruger, Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci will handle the writing duties for Transformers 2.
Orci and Kurtzman were the original writers for the first film, but it's interesting to see Kruger brought in as the third man. Best known for his horror and adaptation skills in The Ring films and The Brothers Grimm, Kruger could bring an actual plot to the franchise–or at least know how to pace a fight sequence.
But maybe it isn't that surprising, since all three writers are scheduled to work on another Dreamworks project, Nightlife, an adaptation of Thomas Perry's serial killer novel. It is convenient and they would be under contract by Dreamworks to produce, which is becoming more suspicious as the November deadline for the Writers' Strike looms.
Otherwise, Bay returns as director, Spielberg as Executive Producer and Shia LaBeouf as the Human who isn't a Transformer.
