News > The Dark Knight Viral Campaign Continues!

Written by: Noah Sanders

I was more excited about this particular campaign when it was simple: a few websites, some easily deciphered clues, and then voila, The Joker's picture.  With the onset of whysoserious.com (the new Joker site spawned out of Comic-Con) I'm less interested.  It's too much for my simple brain to handle.  I want my dorky film nonsense spoon fed to me on a silver plate, not wrapped amongst page after page after page of, albeit cool, fakery.

For those who are following though, superherohype.com is reporting that the viral strain has changed once again.  If you now try to hit up whysoserious.com you're re-routed to Rent-a-Clown.com, basically a page showing pictures of those who participated in the clown riot at Comic-Con.

I see no point in it though, the original site already had a page dedicated to this (and by page, I mean seven pages) and this one just seems superfluous (though truthfully, this one does have annoying clown music).  But, here's what it does, it throws up a bunch of pictures of fans, making them feel special, and making them feel like Christian Bale and Christopher Nolan actually care about them.  After the strained satellite interview (so I hear) the two gave, a lot of fans were pretty butthurt.   Feeling as if the director and his star could've at least done SOMETHING for the Con.  Well, he has, sort of, he's told his lackies in IT to fashion a new website that puts the emphasis on those who participated, buttering them up so they won't drown his movie in anti-hype before it gets out of the port.

Too bad it's a boring site.  Show me a clip of the Joker in action and then you'll have me.
