News > Sword and the Sorcerer Sequel is a Go

There are many many things Moriarty of
Aint-It-Cool News reports on that I fully trust. He's a great writer who's opinions run closely to mine on almost everything. Yet, every once in a while when there's something gleefully (read - nauseatingly) campy, Moriarty will jump all over it and unabashedly champion a film that is only watchable by the geekiest of geeks.
Thus, his excitement over an email he received from Albert Pyun stating that he's on the fast track to making a sequel to 80s cult film Sword and the Sorcerer doesn't do much for me. The sequel (as noted in the first film's closing credits) will be called Tales of the Empire and will once again focus on greasy barbarian warrior Talon. The first film was a sort of mash-up of bad 80s special effects, bloody violence, and gratuitous nudity, and I never really got on it's cult band wagon.
Director Albert Pyun is a notoriously bad filmmaker with both Captain America and the Nemesis series under his belt, but hell, in the email he wrote he seems so excited that he actually gets to make another movie. How can you root against him?
I just hope Richard Moll makes a reappearance.
