Comingsoon.net is reporting that Brian Dennehy is in talks to join the cast of Righteous Kill, the new cop drama starring Al Pacino and Robert De Niro. Other recent additions to the cast include Carla Gugino, Donnie Wahlberg, John Leguizamo, 50 Cent, Dan Futterman, Trilby Glover, and Rob Dyrdek. John Avnet is directing the script by Inside Man scribe Russell Gewirtz.
Pacino and De Niro will play partner detectives searching for a serial killer. Dennehy will play their captain (how old is that department?), Leguizamo will play a rival cop, Futterman and Glover will play attorneys, and Dyrdek will play a delinquent. Isn't he like thirty? Everybody in this cast needs to lose like ten-twenty years for this to make any sense.
All this casting news raises the question, do Pacino and De Niro even need a supporting cast? Those two guys sitting in a squad car in an empty convenience store parking lot, sipping Slurpees and yelling at each other for two hours seems like it'd be movie enough.
