Great news, everyone! Open Season's getting a sequel! And it's going straight-to-DVD according to Variety. Doing okay at the Box Office, Season made more money in the homevideo market, proving kids will watch anything. The sequel revolves around Mr. Weenie, a daschund from the first film who escapes his home and joins the forest animals. 

It doesn't hurt that Mr. Weenie was voiced by a Sony animator. Martin Lawerence and Ashton Kutcher are not currently scheduled to be involved.

 " 'We don't have a deep bench yet , so we're certainly looking to have more product available," said Sony Pictures Digital [sic] prexy Yair Landau. "We felt we had a really fun story and the marketplace wants more 'Open Season.' ' "

Open Season 2 is projected for a 2009 release.
