Certainly a kick in the pants for those of us who already saw The Darjeeling Limited, downloaded Hotel Chevalier and debated the aspects of Bill Murray. But come Friday when Limited expands by another 6-700 screens, those who are waiting will get another surprise: Chevalier will play before the main film.
The Hollywood Reporter drops this nugget in the opening, spending the rest of a rather ho-hum look at how shocking it is for someone to have a nude scene.
Luckily this proves that most audiences don't mind sitting through a quality short, the "part 1" of Darjeeling that audiences are taunted with if they see the film in a regular theater and not at a festival.
While THR comments that Wes Anderson's latest has made $4 million since it's limited release earlier this month, the inclusion of Chevalier will no doubt attract more of an audience thanks to completing the actual movie and seeing Natalie Portman in two tasteful nude shots.
And while it's great that the studios have decided to include the short for an expanded release, it still bums me out that the rest of who saw Darjeeling were denied that same experience–save on our iTunes. Better late than not at all, I figure.
