News > Fletch Won Gets a Director and a Star

The remake of the Chevy Chase classic Fletch has been kicked around for as long as the internet has been a festering bastion for film journalism.  Kevin Smith wanted a piece, Jason Lee wanted a taste, even Zach Braff wanted to throw some emo on it.  Yet, none of them could find a way to make it work, so, almost by default it has fallen in to the hand of Accepted (the college comedy starring about-to-be-huge Justin Long) director Steve Pink.  And who is Mr. Pink bringing with him to play the titular character?  None other than Pacey himself, Joshua Jackson.

Jackson always had a spot-on sense of comic timing in the dreckish Dawson's Creek, coming across as a real actor next to The Chin and the future Mrs. Cruise.  If this is true, the internet is not going to be happy, but Jackson is a good choice.  He's a fresh-faced scamp who could use a big picture like this to show he's got something more than the teen idol thing.
