Before Tom Hanks started winning Oscars and making prestigious films, he appeared in a slew of bad movies. Now his son seems to be following that path as well, and with a few of the same people. Colin Hanks is planning to star in a comedy with Meg Ryan (did Sleepless in Seattle with TH), Antonio Banderas (Philadelphia), and Selma Blair. He told MTV,

I play an FBI agent who comes home to find out that his mother (Ryan) is dating an FBI suspect (Banderas). He’s forced to bug the dates that his mom and this art thief go on, and comedy ensues.

Bad film, but not dark enough for you? No problem, he's got another film on the horizon in which he plays a federal agent. This time it's a horror movie called Untraceable.

[The killer] tortures people live online, and we try to find out where he is and stop him. Diane [Lane] and I play the FBI cyber cops that try and catch him.

This film will be directed by Gregory Hoblit (Primal Fear, Fracture) and also stars Mary Beth Hurt and Joseph Cross. Concerned about comparisons to Saw and Hostel, Hanks said,

It’s pretty intense, but it’s not torture porn. Some of the stuff I’ve seen is pretty gruesome - but I like to keep my torture and my porn separate.
