News > Breakfast Club Gets Remade as Bumped

Written by David Morgan

Legally speaking, the film has no official connection to The Breakfast Club, but even the casual film goer will notice the striking resemblance between the John Hughes' coming of age classic and Anna Mastro's Bumped. According to The Hollywood Reporter, "Bumped is a comedy-drama revolving around five twentysomethings – including a corporate go-getter, a musician and a flirt – who normally wouldn't be friends but who get to know one another when they're bumped from a flight and wind up stranded at Chicago's O'Hare Airport."

Who is this Anna Mastro who wants to revise the movie of the 1980s? She's described by THR as "McG's protege." She worked on the director's Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle, and was an associate producer on Stay Alive. She also developed and produced the Pussycat Dolls reality show for the CW.

I don't even think ending the film with Simple Minds' "Don't You Forget About Me" could save this idea. It's too soon. People still love the original Breakfast Club too much to enjoy a new one.
