Talks are underway for a third installment in the "Hostel" series, but writer-director Eli Roth is not at the table. The word comes via BloodyDisgusting, ever a reliable site when it comes to horror news. They say:
Eli Roth will NOT write or direct. We have now confirmed rumors this weekend that
early talks have officially begun for "Hostel: Part III," the sequel to Eli Roth's torture series that puts American tourists in peril during their trip to Europe. No word yet on how involved Roth might be, or whether the sequel will hit theaters or go direct-to-video.
Everything is very sketchy at this point. There's no given reason why Roth would give up on his much loved and hated series. It could have to do with the fact that the sequel performed well below expectations financially, or perhaps Roth simply wants to focus on other projects while Lionsgate and Sony Screen Gems want to make some small, easy cash without him. We'll let you know as things develop.
