Russell Crowe will star as the Sheriff of Nottingham in the Ridley Scott-directed alternative universe version of the Robin Hood tale, "Nottingham."  In the film, the Sheriff of Nottingham is the good guy who's caught up with an evil king and an annoying love triangle with maid Marion and Robin Hood.

There's been a recent spike in demands for a new Robin Hood film, partially fueled by the BBC TV series but mostly because that most recent dramatic stab at Robin Hood, "Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves," was over ten years ago.

If Crowe doesn't break down during filming, this will be amazing. C'mon, the "Gladiator" team tackling Robin Hood? Wow.
