In a trouncing so significant it's almost surprising we bothered comparing the two, "Get Smart" earned more than two and a half times as much money as Mike Myers' "The Love Guru." The Steve Carell-Anne Hathaway spy spoof came away with $39.2 million while Myers' ice hockey offensive-to-Hindus comedy made a mere $14 million, coming in fourth place. "Kung Fu Panda" made $21.7 million, barely edging out "The Incredible Hulk" which had $21.6 million. With numbers that close, they could even switch spots by Monday. M. Night Shyamalan's "The Happening" took a big fall to fifth place and $10 million (Variety).
So how does this stack up next to our predictions from last Thursday? Well, for some reason, we all forgot about "Kung Fu Panda," which is such a glaring omission considering it's basically the only family film on the market at the moment. Cypher131 came closest to guessing "Get Smart," but thisfuckingguy came closest to "Hulk," "Love Guru," and "The Happening," making him the winner for the second week in the past month or so. Congratulations!
