The Legend of Awesomest Maximus is the next spoof from National Lampoon, making fun of the gladiator themed movies such as Troy, Gladiator and 300.

Will (Mad TV) Sasso leads a cast that includes Kristanna Loken, Ian Ziering, Sophie Monk, Tony Cox, and Rip Torn.

The direction of Jeff Kanew, of Revenge of the Nerds fame should make this an interesting take on the sword-and-sandal movies that have become so popular. Daniel Laikin, National Lampoon's Chief Executive Officer, told Hollywood Reporter, "'National Lampoon's The Legend of Awesomest Maximus' is a hilarious spoof of some of the classic films of our generation, and is sure to please National Lampoon fans worldwide." National Lampoon now produces its own features, with a goal of four releases per year.
