Rotten Tomatoes says that Jon Cassar, executive producer of the hit Fox series 24, has released a bit of info on the upcoming film adaptation.
Firstly, filming won't even start until 2008.
Secondly, the movie will most likely take place between seasons.
Thirdly, the realtime format will be ditched.
As a former 24 fan – I gave up after I found out the producers basically make up the season as they go along – this is disappointing news. Not only does it mean that the movie won't keep what made the series great – namely, the realtime format and Bauer's unpredictability – but it also won't serve as a satisfyingly climactic finale to the series (a la Serenity). After the movie, we'll get another season, and the show will eventually die a slow death.
One can only stand so many seasons of I'm Jack Bauer And This Is The Sixth/Seventh/Eighth Worst Day Of My Life.
