Editorials > "21" Wins at Box Office

Robert Luketic's fact-based gambling drama "21" came out on top at the box office this weekend, taking in a reasonable $23.7 million. Critics were rather hard on the film about six MIT students and their professor who used their natural mathematical aptitude to take Las Vegas casinos for millions of dollars, but as usual, that had little bearing on the audience's appetites.

"Horton Hears a Who!" dropped to second place with $17.4 million, giving it enough to cross over the $100 million mark. "Superhero Movie" landed in third place with a rather poor $9.51 million.

4. "Meet the Browns" - $7.76m
5. "Drillbit Taylor" - $5.8m
6. "Shutter" - $5.33m
7. "10,000 B.C." - $4.88m
8. "Stop-Loss" - $4.53m
9. "College Road Trip" - $3.5m
10. "The Bank Job" - $2.8m
