Editorials > '10,000 B.C.' Will Struggle to Make the Top 3 Its Openining Weekend

Even before I read the majority of reviews that panned the film, I didn’t see this movie as a success.

What do people know about this movie? It’s set in 10,000 B.C. and features lots of CGI prehistoric animals……and thats it. People aren’t going to pay money to see a two hour museum exhibit, despite the fact that it was made by the same director as ‘Independence Day.’

Cheesy Disney Movies like ‘College Road Trip’ have been surprises in the past (i.e. Game Plan) so it wouldn’t be a shock to see it top ‘B.C.’in the box office.

The only possible saving grace for the film would be the lack of options at the multiplexes, but with the arrival of spring right around the corner I think most people aren’t looking to spend the weekend indoors.

Spring may be right around the corner, but it's not this weekend. At least not in my area. Nothing but cold weather here. I personally would definitely pay to see a two hour "living" museum exhibit if you will. I think this movie will do just fine and have no problem making the top 3.

I agree. While it may not look like a movie miracle, it looks appealing enough to the popcorn crowd...plus the competition is weak.
